perfect for quick moments and funny clips

Kodak Zi8 raspberry Pocket Video Camera This thing is great and simple to use. It is better then anything out their under 200 dollars or in its class. People do complain about zoom not being great or mic having issues these are from a firmware update, once the update is done it works great. Has alota cool options like EIS, face recognition, and mic sensitivity settings. EIS isnt that great but its not good on any pocket camera, so you cant hold it against the zi8. Also has macro view and can make things very clear if done right. Has 720 at 60fps which no other pocket cam has let alone cameras that cost 500 dollars. Its a great value and gets the job done. If you want to get an idea of what the recording is like look it up on youtube. Their are many comparison videos to other pocket cams. this does come out being slightly better then most. battery life is not good so keep that in mind and you do need to get a sd card when you buy it. Make sure the SD card is class 6 or higher to transfer information faster resulting in better quality overall.

Zi8 is best in class, see some footage

I highly recommend this camera for all new videographers. I started this april with zi6 and was amazed what this camera do, but noticed that want more features like, external microphone, remote and some stabilisation, so as soon zi8 became available I returned zi6 back to target and purchased zi8 directly from kodak. Significant improvement over zi6

Since I already own a Kodak zi6, I will restrict my review to comparison between Kodak zi8 and zi6. Overall, I feel that zi8 is a significant improvement over the previous model. The video quality is definitely better than zi6 in all conditions, whether outside in bright sunlight or indoors in low light. The firmware is superior giving a more user friendly interface and buttons layout is much nicer. Unlike zi6 where setting menus was hidden, this time you get direct access to settings including controlling the screen brightness, altering mic sensitivity, turning image stabilization on/off and enabling/disabling face recognition.

Zi8

I bought this video camera to take to Paris, France with me. I did thorough research on all small video cameras. I wanted one that was easy to use, had image stabilization, portable, and compatible with a Mac. I looked at Sanyo, Canon, Panasonic, and Kodak. At the last minute I found an article in MacWorld about Kodak’s Zi8. I generally do not like to buy electronics when they first are released on the market; too many kinks to work out. However, time was of the essence in my case, so I purchased the Kodak Zi8. I have never owened a video camera; however, I have had a lot of fun playing with it. It is very easy to use. The controls and menus are straight-forward. I was able to download the videos to YouTube as well as my Mac. iMovie took it right in and was able to play the video back. One of the other reviews talked about a problem with their microphone, but so far I have not experienced the same. So far I love my new toy and can’t wait to take it to Paris.
