Very nice tool

This is the first router I’ve owned, although not the first I’ve used, so interpret my comments in that light. I’ve been impressed with how well-built and easy to use this tool is. The height adjustment works well, changing bases is easy, and all the features seem to work as designed. Changing bits is a two-wrench operation but for my uses that’s not really an issue. The case is sturdy, and has storage for all kinds of accessories, including many that don’t come with the kit. The case is huge, however, so be prepared to give up some serious space in your workshop

I’ve been needing a good dependable router to add to my collection of usable power tools. Thank Goodness for the Amazon Reviews to help me in the selection process. Although I am not a professional wood worker, I wanted something capable of more than merely occasional projects. I’ve already used this one and gotta say it is the best and easiest to use router I’ve ever owned. Yes, the case is big – yada yada. But look at all the storage availability inside. Not only does this case protectively nestle the router and both bases, but also has provisions for many different accessories. Allows you to keep your router and all your accessories in one convenient location.

Hitachi for the win

Value is the one one word that sums up this kit. I don’t want to beat a dead horse, but I agree that you’ll be hard pressed to find a better deal than this Hitachi kit. I’ve never used the Bosch that so many rave about, but I have used the Porter Cable kit and some old Craftsman fixed base routers. I’d put the Hitachi at about the same level as the Porter Cable. Better availability of accessories would put it at or above the PC in my opinion. It’s solid and easy to use. The only two very minor gripes for me are the position of the on/off switch and the stiffness of the plunge base (I probably just need to lube it). The gripes aren’t enough to warrant less than 5 stars though. I look forward to using this router for years to come!

Great Value Great Router

This is an excellant value for the price. It is the quietest router I have ever heard. I have the fixed base mounted to my router table and it is very easy to switch the motor back and forth to the plunger base. I have used it to make raised panels with back cutters and it did not bog down seems to have plenty of power. The one down side is that it requires two wrenches to change bits.
