perfect for quick moments and funny clips

Kodak Zi8 raspberry Pocket Video Camera This thing is great and simple to use. It is better then anything out their under 200 dollars or in its class. People do complain about zoom not being great or mic having issues these are from a firmware update, once the update is done it works great. Has alota cool options like EIS, face recognition, and mic sensitivity settings. EIS isnt that great but its not good on any pocket camera, so you cant hold it against the zi8. Also has macro view and can make things very clear if done right. Has 720 at 60fps which no other pocket cam has let alone cameras that cost 500 dollars. Its a great value and gets the job done. If you want to get an idea of what the recording is like look it up on youtube. Their are many comparison videos to other pocket cams. this does come out being slightly better then most. battery life is not good so keep that in mind and you do need to get a sd card when you buy it. Make sure the SD card is class 6 or higher to transfer information faster resulting in better quality overall.

Zi8 is best in class, see some footage

I highly recommend this camera for all new videographers. I started this april with zi6 and was amazed what this camera do, but noticed that want more features like, external microphone, remote and some stabilisation, so as soon zi8 became available I returned zi6 back to target and purchased zi8 directly from kodak. The Sony HDR-fx7 Camcorder meets all my needs.

I purchased the Sony HDR-FX7 to replace my eight year old Sony DCR-TRV900 Camcorder. The image colors are excellant and the picture quality is even better because this camera can record in HD or mini DV. The microphone is also better and you can see the stereo levels in the view finder. You can set Zebra Lines to manually control exposere. You can even take still pictures on a memory card while shooting video. You can press a button and see the last few seconds of your last shot. I am a retired professional video cameraman and this camcorder meets all my needs.

Great for Sporting Events

I purchased this camera and I do a lot of highlights for High School football. This has been a great purchase. Easy to switch between HD and SD and the picture quality is OUTSTANDING. The drawback was no XLR connections but it does have a basic mike jack and the shotgun mike attached is pretty good. I have no problems with it. It is easy to use, I haven’t even switched it off of the auto settings and it does everything I want. And it shoots well in low light situations. When I go to slo mo clips in editing, the clips I shot with this are better than good. If you are a sports guy, this camera is a good buy.

Great Camcorder

I purchased thru Butterfly Photo (listed as seller by Amazon). It will change how you work for the better. The included software allows one touch burning to DVD’s which is great- in high Def AVCHD. You can archive clips this way and then assemble them (I use Sony Vegas Pro) and not take up alot of Hard Drive space on your computer. You can the author a DVD/Blu-ray and its great. Only negative I have seen is in low light there is some artifacting when you pan fast. I have same problem with my Canon GL-2 but the quality of the image is so much better than GL-2 avi files.

HDR-SR11–sets the bar for all HD camcorders

I had a Sony PC-110 camera for about 7-8 years until last year I decided I couldn’t deal with Mini DV tapes anymore. So, for about 6 months I’ve been researching cameras and was going to pull the trigger on the Sony HDR-SR7 but decided to wait since AVCHD is still in its infancy. Well, with the HDR-SR11, I can’t imagine the picture quality could be any better than this. It’s like watching an HD movie on our XBR40 Sony flat panel. I’ve only had it for about 2 weeks so I don’t all the details but I’m giddy with delight. Everything looks so crisp and the quality is stunning (of course in the highest 1080i HD mode — SD looks average). I couldn’t recommend this any more and would give it five stars if I could. Also, I bought the LCS-SRC case for it and it fits perfectly, the 8GB Memory Stick Duo, and HDMI – to- HDMI mini cable

Fantastic Investment

As a mom of a young son, having a power cable hanging off the counter with my camera attached was just an invitation for trouble. I purchased this item prior to a Disney vacation, along with a 2nd battery, so that I could charge up one battery while still being able to use the camera (given that Sony decided to go with the odd quirk that you can’t charge the battery on the camera unless the camera is completely OFF). This charger is small, light, and fast. It fit easily in my camera bag, and let me leave my cables at home. I love that it plugs directly into the outlet with no cable, and that the batteries don’t get hot. This may be the best accessory out there.

Excellent Battery Charger

I bought this charger when I purchased my Sony DCR-DVD405 camcorder. It is extremely convenient, especially when traveling. The battery pack slides easily onto the charger, and the charger goes right into any outlet, taking up very little space on the wall. It is so much easier (and safer)charging the battery this way, as opposed to setting up the camcorder and plugging its long, often dangling power cord into an outlet. The last thing you want is someone tripping over the cord, or a small toddler yanking the camcorder to the floor. Also,in hotel rooms, you don’t always have a convenient counter to leave the camcorder on for charging. The charger fits easily into any traveling case. I recommend this charger for its sleek design and overall convenience.

I love my new Flip Mino camcorder. I was mega-skeptical about how good something this tiny could be, but I needed something quick, easy and practical for sales-oriented website videos. I was amazed at how easy it is to use the Flip Mino, and at the quality of the end product video. Is it the “perfect” camcorder for every ocassion? No, but for those impromptu, “down & dirty”, on the spot videos it beats the heck out of using a big camcorder…or a cellphone. I considered buying a Sony “Webbie”, but dollar for dollar you can’t beat a Flip.

This is a product that should be used by more people. It is a great thing, great idea and the photos are really good. It is a handsome camera that takes good pictures. Every time I have downloaded the videos from the Flip Mino they actually come out better looking than when on the screen which is large enough. I am crazy about this camcorder. When I think of the huge camcorders that they came out with that had to ride on your shoulder and the videos that were on it I have to laugh. This tiny thing really does fit in your pocket. Anyone and I mean anyone can learn to use it. Just flip the power button, hold it, point it, take videos that are amazing for the size of the product. Not only is it goodlooking it does a good job. It has a USB connector, just stick it in and go on to other things. I have found absolutely nothing wrong with this. It doesn’t do a lot but take videos which is what you want it for. I’ve never had a single problem with it. As my first sentence says it isn’t used enough.

Significant improvement over zi6

Since I already own a Kodak zi6, I will restrict my review to comparison between Kodak zi8 and zi6. Overall, I feel that zi8 is a significant improvement over the previous model. The video quality is definitely better than zi6 in all conditions, whether outside in bright sunlight or indoors in low light. The firmware is superior giving a more user friendly interface and buttons layout is much nicer. Unlike zi6 where setting menus was hidden, this time you get direct access to settings including controlling the screen brightness, altering mic sensitivity, turning image stabilization on/off and enabling/disabling face recognition.

Zi8

I bought this video camera to take to Paris, France with me. I did thorough research on all small video cameras. I wanted one that was easy to use, had image stabilization, portable, and compatible with a Mac. I looked at Sanyo, Canon, Panasonic, and Kodak. At the last minute I found an article in MacWorld about Kodak’s Zi8. I generally do not like to buy electronics when they first are released on the market; too many kinks to work out. However, time was of the essence in my case, so I purchased the Kodak Zi8. I have never owened a video camera; however, I have had a lot of fun playing with it. It is very easy to use. The controls and menus are straight-forward. I was able to download the videos to YouTube as well as my Mac. iMovie took it right in and was able to play the video back. One of the other reviews talked about a problem with their microphone, but so far I have not experienced the same. So far I love my new toy and can’t wait to take it to Paris.
