Great protection – needs one design change This product provides an excellent protection for the Kindle DX global edition. The shell is firm enough to protect against casual blows, and of course the zippered enclosure keeps the dirt and dust out of the keys and off the screen. The zipper can actually be done back up after the case is folded back (allowing papers and notes to be kept safe), but the zipper’s pull tab does not swing around to allow easily doing it back up. It is not going to keep the screen from being broken if the unit is sat upon, but nothing that is readily portable will accomplish that anyway. The corners of the case are tight to use the first time the unit is mounted (I used needle-nose pliers to position the fourth corner the first time, but after that I was able to do it with my fingers), but that is better than risking the unit falling out once these corners have eased up from a bit of use.
The one change I would really like to see done is for there to be an access for the USB cable. Short of taking the unit out of the case, the USB cable can only be plugged in by forcing down the bottom edge of the case and sliding the plug into place. This has to be puttinga bad strain on the small USB plus that is used for both charging the unit’s battery and for uploading books to/from a PC. A small port at the base of the zipper in the middle of the bottom edge of the case would solve this problem, and this has been done on at least one competetive unit.
Overall – I would buy this one again if I had need of another.
Excellent Kindle DX Case I can honestly say that I love my Kindle (Kindle DX) and I have enjoyed reading once again. Kindle does allow you to read with such ease because of the many choices that it extends to you. I recommend it to anyone who has a problem with small print and with clare on your reading material. Amazon’s Kindle is a joy.
